Performance = Potential – Interference

This blog post comes after a wonderful session by Mr. Prem Kamath, an IIT-IIM alumnus and with over 32 years of experience with HUL. I felt there is a lot of meaning in this equation and I thought I would share the thoughts and discussions behind it.

Both the parameters in the above equation are manageable, and hence the good news is you can manage your performance. On the other hand, both the parameters in the above equation are not manageable and hence your performance is not manageable. No matter where you are, and what you do, this adage holds true. Lance Armstrong, the greatest biker, was once asked how do you manage it. Lance said – On Christmas, when you all party, I bike. I think that statement says it all.
